I rarely talk politics or current events. And by rarely I mean close to never. I don’t write about it. I don’t subtweet about it. Nope. My opinions are mine and mine alone. I’m not even going to talk about it right now!

This being said though, I’m a recovering political and news junkie. I still follow stories and am probably more up-to-date on political happenings than most people I interact with on a day-to-day basis.

And, like I’m sure a lot of people are, I have become sick of social media. It seems like everything has to be commentary or a statement related to politics or a current event. I don’t care for that.

Social media can be used for good to change a political structure or bring light to negative or unjust happenings in the world. Yes. It can. But it doesn’t have to be literally every tweet or FB post I see.

There can be happiness while craziness is going on. People can and should still be able to talk about beer or post dumb pictures of their pets and not feel guilty while people are spouting off about topic X.

I’m not sure the point to this is and I’m okay with that. Let me end with this:

When a quiet man or woman speaks, people listen to them over the person that screams all the time.
